Statement

Clay is an ancient medium, both rugged and delicate, exacting and forgiving at the same time. These dualities invite experimentation. Working with clay should be a discovery, a journey in new terrain. The lightest pressure leaves a mark. You touch the clay and wait for a response. All gestures must be made with intention, left in the clay to be seen. Beauty is always a goal but so is some kind of meaning-- an idea, an emotion, content, or warmth beyond the physicality of the object. A little bit of a story or poetry--a mystery that tells us something about ourselves.
